spoke too soon
A had to be admitted into the hospital last night/this morning. She was running a temperature and had abdominal pain that wouldn’t go away, even with medication. Under advice of her transfer ob/gyn, we went to the ER. After urine, blood tests, and a CAT scan, they determined that she had fluid around her uterus and by the time I left, hadn’t determined if it was abscessed. Also, they said her uterus was way more tender than it should be at this point. So they admitted her.
I guess we had a feeling that this might happen, as we brought the breastfeeding pump with us to the hospital and we hadn’t used it before. Since she’s going to be in a general ward with other sickly people, they said little A couldn’t stay with her for fear of getting her sick. So I brought little A home and it just didn’t feel right to be coming home by ourselves.
Currently A is pumping at the hospital and waiting for her ob to come on shift to give us a clearer prognosis. I’m getting ready to give little A her first bottle and see how that goes. Then I’ll be going up to the hospital later to collect more of mommy’s milk.
I know that everything is going to be fine. Hearing A’s voice soothes and reassures me. I am praying for the strength not to freak out with every little thing.
