new developments

she laughs! not just the cute coos but real laughs in response to stimulation. before, i would tickle her and she would give me a cross between gas face and panic, like “what are you doing mama!!” now she *gets* that tickles are funny and she actually laughs. she also laughs when me or her mommy laughs. here she goes here.

it’s really fun that she knows how to follow cues. her ability to follow cues grows by the day. a couple of weeks ago i was playing this game where i would “zerbert” her neck and say “i got you!” pretty soon, she was throwing her neck back and smiling in anticipation. yesterday, A and i were wiggling our heads at her. she happened to look over at me, so i started doing the same. so she started looking back and forth, back and forth watching us wiggle. after a while we stopped, but she kept looking back and forth at us as if trying to will us to wiggle. i also play this bouncy game where i go “bounce, bounce WEEEEE” and on the “wheeee” i fly her in the air. after a few rounds, she started to go limp on the 3rd bounce so that i could fly her in the air.

where did this kid come from??????? she is so amazing.

sidenote- i’m still uncertain about the work situation but i’m leaning more towards work..

Sounds precious. And I know what you mean about the work/motherhood struggle. I’ve been home with Logan for five years and am going back in the fall (first staff development is today, in fact). There have been many, many times when I questioned my decision to stay home.

Those smiles and giggles just pierce your heart, don’t they? Being at work is hard, but you just have to keep reminding yourself that you’re doing it all for your family, and it makes the time you have together all the more precious.

Ha ha, you used the word “zerbert.” The ultimate Rudy and Bill Huxtable bonding activity. Babies are amazing.

Awwwwww! I am still amazed by my lil one and he recently turned 8! Yes, indeed enjoy these moments as much as you can. I never understood that when people told me years ago. But I really do now. I love how excited you are about every little thing your baby does. You are such a MOM! lol. It makes me smile inside and out seeing that kind of adoration.
