monday appreciation #10
I have 45 minutes until midnight and full bars of this internet that I’m squatting, so let me get to being appreciative.
- I am so very appreciative of great friends. They are godsends. One took LA this weekend while A and I moved and she had her very first sleepaway from the momses (I got “momses” from The Kids are All Right– touching movie). I also got a chance to meet one of my bestest online buds. We’ve been friends for 3+ years and she lives so much closer now! Hey there LG.
- I am appreciative of my new job. It’s pushing me in a good way, and I feel equipped to deal with the challenge. I had a nightmare job a couple of years ago that has left me very anxious about my ability to be a good teacher. I’ve never had an experience like that before or after, so mentally I should know that it wasn’t “me” but still, stuff like that leaves its mark. This is another school where teachers are expected to WORK (a minimum of 10-11 hrs a day plus each of my class sections are 34-35 kids..) but I got a lot of positive feedback today and the feedback for adjustments were things that I noticed as well.
- I am thankful for new hope in my relationship. I’ve been taking time to reflect on ways that I’ve changed over the years (and may warrant a password protected blog in the future) and that knowledge has helped me slooooow down my usually quick (and emotional) reactions. Let’s see how long this lasts.
- I may have said this already but i’m SO THANKFUL for my new 15 minute commute to work. 5 minutes to LA’s daycare and then 10 to my job. No more turnpike (tolls) or tons of gas wasted. I went almost a week on half a tank of gas! Loveliness!!
I know I need to be asleep right now but the pepsi I insisted on drinking at 9:30 pm is keeping me going. Perhaps I should use this energy on lesson planning for next week…
