love, life, and the pursuit of liberation
Despite the ceaseless rain, this has been one of the BEST weeks of my life (though it still doesn’t compare to getting married or having LA).
On Tuesday, I graduated from Teachers College with my MA in Educational Policy and Social Analysis (the revised department name–say that three times fast). I didn’t think I would be, but I was nervous before the ceremony. I hoped they would call my name (since my advisor turned in my completion paperwork late). I was nervous that my girls (A and LA) wouldn’t find a place to sit. I just couldn’t believe I was DONE. But alas it was. And one of my professor’s said two days prior that she loved my policy critique of Governor Christie’s Revamped Teacher Tenure Bill. Icing on the cake.
One of the best parts was that after graduation, me and the family got to enjoy dinner at the same exact place where my friends and I celebrated our undergraduate completion 11 years prior to the day. It finally came full circle. Here’s a picture of me and the bean after graduation.
Here’s another shot of me looking cute in my outfit (that I just picked up all of half an hour before having to leave for graduation). The dress is from American Eagle, earrings and belt from Forever 21, necklace and cuff from my mom’s trip to South Africa, the carnelian bracelet from the Zen Shop, the shoes (changed from my heels) are Mossimo by Target. I told you Minister of Style that I’ve been working it!
Wait, there’s more news….. ** drumroll**
I found out I got the job I’ve been waiting for!! They offered me a position in their New York office which means the A family doesn’t have to move. I’m waiting on getting the full paperwork (so I can comb through the fertility benefits) before I make a definitive decision. I am SO SO RELIEVED.
Thank you ALL for the ways that you’ve kept me sane and supported me through this process. There’s no way I could have done this without my wife. Additionally, my friends’ support has been priceless. Minister of Style was sweet enough to give me a shout out.
This has been one of the best weeks of my life!
