Nerd!
One of the things that was on my “After May 17th list” (the day I graduated from grad school) was to read more. But with the curve balls called life, coupled with sheer laziness, I haven’t begun this intention. Of course I thought about it lots, and I’ve had “get a library card” on my weekly action plan for weeks now, but it simply hasn’t happened.
But the tides have changed.
Inspired by an article by Deepak Chopra that my therapist gave me to read, I’ve actually ordered some books for myself and have pulled out others that have been on my shelf for years barely touched.
These are the books that are now on my bedside table and patiently waiting their turn.
1- Purple Panties by Zane. Okay this is hardly spiritual but it’s so much fun. And I vow to dedicate my time to things that *I* like. Erotica is one of them.
2- The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfillment of Your Dreams by Deepak Chopra
3- Conversations with God- Neale Donald Walsch
4- Kindness, Clarity, and Insight- The Dalai Lama
What’s on your nightstand? I want the intellectual, silly, spiritual, nasty, and everything in between!

I’ve already read the last one. The author was selling her books at a local event and I picked up a few. Wonderful reads.
Nikki Giovanni is a life long read so I always pick it up to reflect and enjoy.

Right now, I’m finishing up World War Z (zombie book that tells the story of humanity’s war against zombies from beginning to end), which is awesome so far.
I really liked Water for Elephants. And I loved Kindred and Parable of the Sower (both by Octavia E. Butler).
Once I finish World War Z, I might start back on My Sister’s Keeper or start on the Hunger Games.

Parable of the Sower is one my favorite books of all time. I swear it’s more prophetic than fiction. Octavia Butler opened up so many worlds to me (literally and figuratively) when I first picked up Kindred when I was in the 8th grade..

I love the diversity of your selection. As soon as I read your comment, I saw a description of Sister Citizen in the October issue for Essence. I think that means I need to add it to my list.

are my two most recent reads, they were just okay. I have a loooong list on Amazon of IR romances, just to cheap to buy them.

The Zane book is AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!! It’s a collection of short stories that fuel my active imagination and gave me new ideas to think on..
