love, life, and the pursuit of liberation
One of the things that has inspired me over the past several years is how social media has galvanized politics, popular culture, and public discourse. From snapping a pic for Instagram, dashing off 140 characters, or starting an online petition, whole social movements (perhaps revolutions?) have been launched.
I’m pretty selective about which campaigns I endorse. I make sure that they align philosophically and are specifically geared to personal and collective empowerment. They also must be promoting positive change, rather than being anti-anything.
“I was once asked why I don’t participate in anti-war
demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but
as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there.”- Mother Teresa
As you all know, I am a contributing writer for Elixher.com, and the fabulous Kimberley McLeod, creator and founder, has launched a campaign to raise funds to launch the quarterly digital magazine, expand their mixers nationally, and support overhead costs (that means pay writers like me).
Check out the campaign here. We’re halfway there!
I’m hoping that I can get at least 10 of my lovely readers to contribute $10. If you do, we will all be so grateful. If you can’t, can you pass the word along to 10 friends?
