love, life, and the pursuit of liberation
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me. And I’m feeling good.
– Nina Simone
This year I’ve turned 35. More than a new age, it’s marked a new phase and a new outlook that I discuss in my this post. What better way to kick off this next chapter than with a list of goals and intentions that I want to accomplish by the time I turn 40. Why 40 you might ask? Because being in my 30s KICKS ASS, and if 35 is this great, then 40 must be stupendous. I’m looking forward to it.
This list is by no means complete, but I have to start somewhere before perfectionism takes its ugly root and convince me that I shouldn’t publish it until it’s “right.” Here ya go:
- Own a vintage car. My dream car since I was 14 has been a late-model ’64 mustang. I need to stop talking about it and GET IT.
- Be remarried. *blissful sigh*
- Give birth. *repeat blissful sigh*
- Own a home.
- Be ready to launch my real estate business in honor of my grandfather’s vision and legacy.
- Publish at least 2 more books.
- Get my back piece (tattoo) complete.
- Join a church.
- Finish reading the Bible again.
- Go on an international trip outside of the Americas.
- Mentor a child.
- Have my family in my home for the holidays.
- Grow my hair back to waist-length.
- Go to a shooting range and get my concealed handgun license.
- Get rid of credit card.
- Get rid of student loans while I’m at it.
- Own a new mac laptop.
- Attend Blogher.
- Fly without anxiety or medication.
- Be self-employed.
